About Me

Hello, hello! My name is Adele Morris, and I am a sophomore studying Spanish and journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I serve as a staff writer for The Daily Tar Heel with an arts and culture focus. I specialize in feature stories, and my favorite article I’ve written so far has been about Oscar-nominated director and UNC alum Ed Perkins.

Additionally, I have worked with childhood development leaders in a certified DSS facility in Charleston, South Carolina. Working with children is a great love of mine. I find it gratifying to surround myself with children’s enthusiasm and their desire to learn hands-on. This past year, I also virtually tutored a first grade boy who struggled with reading comprehension. While we worked together to improve his reading, he told me all about the world through his eyes. I found it incredibly fulfilling. In the near future, I hope to find an opportunity to work with elementary students who speak Spanish as a first language, so I can improve my Spanish and continue spending time with children.

I am a third generation Charlottean and a third generation Tarheel. After college, I hope to spend some time living and working in Nashville or New Orleans, but ultimately I want to return to Charlotte. In the long-term, I hope to work as an editor in a newsroom or at a publishing firm.
